To stem the tide of unstructured and irrational behaviour of the previous operators and complaints by organisations, Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency, OYSAA, has inaugurated Mobile Advertisement Policy in Oyo State. Addressing political office holders, seasoned administrators, and highly skilled professionals in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital recently, the director general of the agency, Yinka Adepoju said the launch of the policy, which shall relate to all branded vehicles marks the end of jungle justice, irrational behaviour on the part of previous operators and several complaints that the agency receive over illegal harassment of the good citizens of the state and visitors on the crude way and manner of collection of mobile advertisement fees before now. He said “Our testimony today as an Agency is that this project finally became a reality. Though it took us close to 6 months to develop our strategic frame work in consultation with relevant bodies such as Association of Local Government Councils of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter (Algon), representatives of the Federal Organization called (MOAN) Mobile Outdoor Advertisement Agency of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force and the Financial institution that will be responsible for safe keeping of our instruments.” The Agency however mandated 10 corporate firms to undertake the assignment in the state. According to Adepoju, ten corporate firms have been chosen to carry this assignment and there are Buven Communications Nig. Limited, Fotrom Limited, Maxmur International Limited, Mota Ventures Limited, Bolaron & Co Global Services Nig. Limited, West Bamokle Consult, Molgadesu Nigeria Enterprise Limited, Prime Reach Limited, Junoy Global Concept Nig. Limited and Touch Point Limited.” According to him, “No doubt the task ahead of these ones is herculean considering the in-charge date. That is, the commencement of the project which everybody says is very late. To us, there is joy in it because is better late than never.” He urged stakeholders to support the policy which takes effect in the state immediately. “Stakeholders are enjoined to comply and adhere strictly to the provisions of this policy. The Permit Sticker and Clearance Certificate shall be issued together to all applicants at a token fee of Three Thousand Naira (N3, 000) by the consultants who have been assigned to all the thirty-three (33) Local Government Councils of Oyo State. While it is expected that the permit sticker is affixed to the windscreen of all vehicles, the clearance certificate should be produced on demand. Both instruments are valid for one calendar year,” he said.
