Wike gets double honours

It was double honours for the minister of state for education, Nyesom Wike, as he received awards from Ben TV, UK, and City People Magazine.

The minister was awarded the City people magazine award for excellence on Youth Development, and the Ben TV minister of state of the year.

According to Mr. Bamidele Ogundana, managing editor, City People, the minister was singled out for the award as a result of his commitment to the ideals of nation building through development of the education sector.

He said the minister’s efforts in giving a new face to basic education especially, and the transformation of the education sector as a whole, is worth commendation.

Responding, the minister who dedicated the awards to President Jonathan, thanked the management of both organisations, but stressed that even though he was given the award, it was as a result of the combined efforts of the staff of the ministry, as well as the media.

“These awards are dedicated to the president who has given us the opportunity to do our best in the transformation agenda of the administration.  Without that, we wouldn’t have been able to make this contribution which we now celebrate,” Wike said.

According to him, instead of resting on his ours, the awards would further spur him and his team at the ministry of education to do more towards the actualisation of Mr. President’s transformation agenda in the education sector.

The award ceremony held yesterday at the conference room of the minister, at the national secretariat complex in Abuja.
