Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olufemi David, has warned officers of the command attached to political office holders not to misuse their uniforms on Election Day.
David gave the warning while addressing newsmen in his office in preparation for today’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
He said although the command has made adequate security arrangements for a smooth conduct of the elections, it would not condone its men wearing their uniforms to escort political appointees on that day.
He warned that the command would arrest and prosecute any policeman found violating the order.
The commissioner said, political appointees who allowed any of their uniformed aides to follow them in uniform on the Election Day would equally be arrested and prosecuted.
According to him, adequate police personnel have been deployed to all parts of the state to maintain law and order throughout the exercise.
David commended residents of the state for exhibiting good behaviour during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He said that vehicular movement would be restricted during the exercise, except those on election duty or essential services.
