Ebonyi State governor-elect, Engr. Dave Umahi has been presented with certificate of return by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, at the commission’s headquarters in Abakaliki.
All the National Assembly members-elect were also presented with their certificates of return.
Performing the ceremony, the INEC national commissioner, Mrs. Gladys Nwafor expressed happiness to have supervised the just concluded general elections in her home.
The national commissioner admonished the elected officers not to forget the people who gave them the mandate, adding that they should keep to the election promises they made to the people so that they could be given such opportunity again.
In his remarks, Umahi dedicated his victory to God, the people of the state, stakeholders, INEC staff, security agencies and others who were in one way or the other connected with the “divine mandate.”
The governor-elect admitted that he had a big task ahead, assuring that his administration would not disappoint the people.
Umahi, who also promised to reward everybody who had contributed to his victory, further promised to run all inclusive government.
He congratulated others who were in the governorship race for calling to congratulate him for his victory, noting that President Jonathan had set a good precedent, as he described the president as God-sent for the purposes of peace and unity in the country.
