Respite appears to be in sight for Governor Ayo Fayose as members of the opposition All Progressives Congress in the state house of Assembly have opted for dialogue to resolve the political impasse in the state.
Tension had built up in the state in the past few weeks following threats by the APC lawmaker to impeachment Governor Fayose, who was elected on the platform of the PDP.
For the leader of the embattled 15 APC lawmakers and impeached speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, his group was ready to embrace peace if the olive branch was extended by Governor Ayo Fayose, he said
Speaking on the development, the embattled speaker, said, “We are ready too for dialogue if he is ready to toe the path of peace.
He explained that it was the governor that was brewing the crisis, which has also brought inconvenience to them and their families.
According to Omirin, “He has stopped our salaries and other entitlements. It is not that we don’t want to work with him, but he is the one refusing to allow peace to reign in the state.
But on his part, Governor Fayose, said that he was ready for dialogue with the 19 APC lawmakers, who are bent on impeaching him over alleged constitutional breaches.
Fayose, who spoke yesterday at a special prayer session organised for him by the Ansarudeen Mosque, Odo-Out, Atikankan in Ado-Ekiti to celebrate his recent electoral victory at the Supreme Court, noted that he was not opposed to whatever political solution that could end the imbroglio, as long as the warring 19 APC lawmakers also embraced such idea.
The governor pointed out that “Anything that can bring peace cannot be wished away. For me, I am ready to accommodate everybody, whatever they want we can sit down and talk.”
According to him, “there is no perfect man. They should allow peace to reign. All I want is peace that will energise development.
The governor said that he was waving the olive branch in the overall interest of Ekiti people as well as restoration of peace.
He explained that several calls and appeals for amicable solution to the lingering crisis by eminent leaders, religious leaders as well as traditional rulers, informed his latest stance.
This is just as he also apologised to anyone that he may have offended one way or the other, in the course of carrying out his duties as governor to forgive him of any wrong doing and forget the past, saying only God was perfect.
He regretted that activities of the 19 APC lawmakers had taken toll on legitimate businesses of innocent people of the state, with one life lost in the process.
According to Fayose” If they say someone has enemies, I am number one in the world. But God has been merciful and has been helping me to overcome my challenges.
“I need your prayers because it will strengthen me more. I am here in the mosque to thank God.
“All I want is peace. I have a constitutionally guaranteed tenure. A governor is judged by his achievements in office. All I am interested in is to bring development to my people. My opponents know if I have a rest of mind I will achieve my objectives.
“All those I have offended should forgive me for the sake of masses and orphans. They should know people gave me the mandate. Nobody is above mistake; they should forgive me.
“A lot of our people before the judgment had been under palpable fear of the unknown.  We are here to thank God and pray for peace. I am appealing to please allow peace to reign,” Fayose said.
Earlier, before leading the prayers for the governor, the State Missioner of the Ansarudeen Movement, Alhaji Liadi Adebayo, called on both Fayose and the APC lawmakers to bury their hatchets.
He called for peaceful co-existence of the entire people of Ekiti State, irrespective of their political differences, while urging residents to live together in harmony as politics was not supposed to be a do or die affair.
