As part of preparations for the May 29 handover date, President Goodluck Jonathan and President-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) yesterday met behind closed doors at the State House, Abuja.
After the meeting which lasted for about 30 minutes, Jonathan told State House correspondents that the meeting was in continuation of the conversation that the two of them have been engaging in, since the results of the March 28 elections were called.
The President said he would not disclose the details of the meeting, adding however that it was in the interest of the country.
He said a date would be chosen when the President-elect would come and he (Jonathan) will show him round the State House.
The President’s address was greeted with laughter by everyone present.
When State House correspondents turned to Buhari for his comment, he simply said, “The President (Jonathan) has said it all.”
His response also elicited another round of laughter from those present.
This marked the second time the two men would be meeting since after the March 28 elections.
