The whereabouts of two expatriates and a Nigerian who were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Thursday, in Patani area, Delta state, is still unknown.
They are staff of OKMAS Nigeria limited, handling the Patani-Oduophori road project.
Public Relations Manager of the company, Owhondah Ebere, gave the names of the expatriates as Sari Naser Karin and Tarek Maroun, both Syrians and a Nigerian identified as Sahara.
Ebere, stated that the gunmen numbering 7, all armed with AK 47 riffles and dressed in military attires, stormed the project site and whisked away the three staff to an unknown destination.
According to him, “The gunmen came in speedboats through the Sagbama creek to Agoloma-Toru-Apalabiri community and subsequently escaped via the same route.”
Ebere noted that though this is the first time such an incident is befalling staff of the company since the commencement of the project in 2013, a formal complaint had been lodged at the Patani police station.
The company is yet to be contacted get by the abductors.
Meanwhile, other workers of the company yesterday, down their tools at the project site, demanding for the immediate release of their colleagues.
They also requested for adequate security for the workers to forestall future reoccurrence.
