Gov Al-Makura backs Lawan for Senate Presidency

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura has pledged his total support for the aspiration of Senator Ahmed Lawan representing Yobe Central as the Senate President in the 8th National Assembly.
He said, “Having Senator Lawan at this point in time will be the best thing to Nigerians, having been an experienced legislator in the country.”
Al-Makura said this yesterday during a condolence visit to Jos, Plateau State capital, in respect of the demise of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Aisha Mamman Musa.
Our correspondent gathered that the mother-in-law of the governor had passed on to glory in the early hours of Monday morning in her residence in Jos.
She died at the age of 85, and is survived by 10 children, 50 grand children and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. Among the sympathizers was the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, who condoled with the family and urged them to accept the dead of Mama in good faith, praying God to grant her soul Aljanatu.
Some of the senators at the family compound were Sens. Ahmed Lawan, Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa state, Solomon Ewuga, among many others.
Sen. Ahmed Lawan, who led the delegation of the senators, commiserated with the family members of the deceased and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Responding on behalf of the family, Governor Al-Makura thanked them for sympathising with the family, adding that he was overwhelmed by their visit.
He described the death of late Mama Mamman Musa as a loss to the family and prayed for God to accept the spirit of the departed.
Her daughter, Aisha Dahiru Ibrahim, described her mother as a generous, loving and accommodating mother who preached peace among her children and people around her.
