Leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo State chapter on Friday ordered the suspension of the ongoing workers strike in the state directing the striking workers to resume work on Monday, June 8, 2015.
The chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State chapter, Comrade Waheed Olojede, stated this at the conference room of the Head of Service, Soji Eniade, after several days of negotiation with the state Government yesterday.
According to Olojede, “after a successful negotiation which led to the signing of memorandum of understanding with the state government and the labour unions have resolved to suspend the strike.”
He said the unions have also reached an agreement with the state government on the ways to pay the outstanding three months’ salaries.
Comrade Olojede emphasised that the negotiating unions have also agreed to the payment of grade levels 1 to 12 immediately the next allocation is released while levels 13 and above would be paid later.
This he noted was better than accepting 50 per cent salary for all categories of workers in the state.
It would be recalled that on May 25 workers in Oyo State embarked on an indefinite strike following an order by the National leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress Abuja.
