Security operatives recover Rivers’ govt stolen vehicles

Security operatives have recovered 10 vehicles belonging to the Rivers State Government which were stolen by some members of staff of the Government House, Port Harcourt in the last days of the Rotimi Amaechi administration.
The vehicles were recovered on Monday evening from two locations- Rumuokparali and Trans-Amadi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The vehicles recovered included; one Coaster Bus, two Nissan Urvan buses, two Higer vehicles, one Land Cruiser, one Toyota Hilux Pick Up, one Peugeot 607 Saloon and two Peugeot 406 cars.
The security operatives who conducted the operation were accompanied to the locations by some Government House staff.
Nigerian Pilot recalls that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, upon assumption of duty, alerted the people of the state of the massive looting of government property and facilities by the immediate past administration.
The governor also took leading Rivers State Stakeholders on a tour of looted facilities in Government House, Port Harcourt.
He, however, pledged that all stolen government property will be recovered, and those found to have engaged in the criminal act made to face the full wrath of the law.
The Police Public Relations Officer Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP Ahmad Mohammad also confirmed the development. According to the PPRO, acting on information that some suspected vehicles belonging to the Rivers State government were seen packed in unauthorised yards, the command swooped on the place and recovered the vehicles.
Already, security operatives are quizzing those found at the locations where the stolen vehicles were recovered, why the recovery process is an ongoing exercise.
