Massive roads construction excites Abia residents

Residents of Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State, have expressed their happiness on the ongoing roads construction in the city.
In an interview with Nigerian Pilot, Engr. Onyedikam of Kamalu Street said that the governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, was demonstrating that another Sam Onunaka Mbakwe, the late governor of the old Imo State, had reincarnated.
He prayed for God’s guidance for the governor to enable him to sustain the projects he had started.
Onyedikam assured that residents would always support the governor.
A petty trader, Mrs. Betty Onuoha while expressing her joy said that fixing road infrastructure in Aba would go a long way in improving the economy of the state.
“Aba is the commercial nerve of the state and is critical to the economy of state. The governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has started on a good note by fixing some key roads in the city,” she said.
Nigerian Pilot reports that Gov. Ikpeazu last week flagged off the rehabilitation of 18.9km roads in Aba.
The roads include Umuocham, Umuola and Ehere Roads. Others are Ukaegbu, Kamalu, Umule and Ukwu Mango in Faulks Road.
He reiterated his stance not to compromise quality by charging the contractors handling the projects to do quality jobs and deliver on schedule, or be blacklisted by the state government.
He said that the roads were strategic and important to the people of Aba, and that is why was administration is giving them priority attention.
“These roads are important to enable vehicular movement within the commercial nerve centre of Abia. The complete renovation of these seven roads would be achieved within my first 100 days in office with street lights,” he said.
He urged those who built stores on the water ways to remove them.
