Gov denies link
As the 2015 presidential election draw closer, major streets in the state capital were yesterday flooded with the presidential campaign posters of the Adamawa state Governor, Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako, rtd, declaring the governor’s intention to vie for the number one position in the country.
But, in a swift reaction, Governor Nyako, dissociated himself from the exercise which he described as the handiwork of his political detractors that are bent on sowing seed of discord between him and President Goodluck Jonathan.
The governor who made this known in a statement issued and signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Ahmad Sajoh and made available to Sunday Pilot also directed security agencies in the state to apprehend those responsible for such act which is intended to pitch him against President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of 2015, general elections.
The governor accused some indigenes of the state that he described as Abuja politicians as being responsible for the unpleasant act for reason known to them.
He said the state government has also got wind of plans to flood similar posters in Abuja and Niger Delta to create hot blood between Adamawa state Governor and President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Nyako, “We know these suspects. They are our kinsmen and enemies of their own people who have often times inflicted severe hardship on the people by denying them Federal projects and in extreme cases impose hardship like the current state of emergency on the people of Adamawa.
“These our so called big brothers are callous as their desperation have always manifested.
They are totally unmindful of the difficulties they inflict on their people who are their kinsmen and still go ahead to bring more hardship to the state in their guise to take over power by all cost without knowing that it is only God that can give and take power and now they want to join us against federal might to achieve their demonic desires”.
The statement added that Governor Nyako, who rose to the rank of an Admiral in Nigerian Navy, will not hide under faceless posters to announce his ambition to occupy any office in the land.
He further described it as the activities of some unscrupulous mischief makers who have succeeded in maliciously printing posters of Governor Nyako for the purpose of tarnishing his image as well as distracting the Governor from his focused and principled leadership.
