Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, yesterday ordained 886 pastors and 8, 024 deacons and deaconesses at the end of this year’s 61st annual convention.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pastor Adeboye said the ordination was part of the expansion programme of the church, which the church has continued to grapple with in terms of manpower challenges for the numerous numbers of parishes springing up in all the nooks and crannies of the country and beyond.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the vision of the general overseer is to plant parishes of the RCCG within five minutes walking distance in every city and town of developing countries and within five minutes driving distance in every city and town of developed countries.
“We will pursue these objectives until every nation in the world is reached for the Lord Jesus Christ,” Adeboye reiterated.
“The harvest is big but the labourers are few, which is why more and more ministers are required to cater for the huge number of converts attending the church’s numerous programmes,” he added.
The theme of this year’s convention, which has been described as the most unique event in the over 60 years history of the church, was ‘JESUS’ and going by the few testimonies that were allowed, indeed it will go down in the annals of the history of the church as the most impactful spiritual fiesta in the recent time.
The event featured several programmes including special seminars, group seminars, specialised events for different grades, deliverance service, songs, Holy Communion and the Holy Ghost service on Friday night described by a worshipper who preferred anonymity as the flagship of the convention and was attended by over six million people.
Pastor Adeboye had earlier assured all that the 2013 convention would be an unforgettable moment for those who are focused, prayerful, determined and devoid of sinful acts.
