STF recovers 150 cattle in Plateau

armySpecial Task Force, STF, deployed to restore law and order in Plateau, code name operation save haven, has recovered 150 rustled cattle around Mavo village of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The STF Media and Information Officer, Captain Salisu Mustapha in a statement made available to Nigerian Pilot in Jos yesterday, stated that the task force had tracked the armed rustlers around Mavo village who abandoned the cattle and fled on sighting the military personnel.

According to the statement, “On Friday, 9th of August, 2013, at about 3:00pm, unidentified gunmen ambushed and rustled 150 cows at Mavo village of Wase Local Government Area.

The statement further added that on receiving the information, STF personnel went in pursuit and tracked the rustlers to the surrounding bushes of Mavo village. But on sighting the troops, the rustlers abandoned the cows and fled. All the cows were recovered and handed back to the owner safely”.

He warned perpetrators of the crises, describing the recent increase in cow rustling as a “sad and unfortunate development, especially at a time when efforts are being intensified to find lasting solution to the lingering crisis on the Plateau”.
