Ahead of the 2014 FIFA world Cup qualifier in Calabar next month, Former Coach of the National team, Austin Eguavoen has called on the Super Eagles to forget the Mandela Challenge and concentrate on Malawi.

Eguavoen said the Eagles cannot continue to celebrate the Mandela Challenge as the task of beating the Flames of Malawi and qualify for the second round of the competition is enormous.

“It was a very good game. I liked the way they played and the fact that they kept up our good record against South Africa and credit must go to the players and the coaches. But what is important now is the match against Malawi and Eagles has to be focused on that now. There is a more important task ahead of them in a few week’s time and that is the World Cup qualifier against Malawi.

“The Mandela Challenge is in the past, now is the time to start planning on how to get three points against Malawi.

“It was good to win against South Africa and I think that will give the boys confidence ahead of the match.”

The former Super Eagles gaffer says the team must take the match seriously as there are no more minos in the game of football. Every country small or big wants to be at the world cup and this the more reason why the Super Eagles must put in their best to beat Malawi and advance to the second round of qualifiers.
