The FIFA Goal Project to be constructed in Bauchi State by the world soccer governing body will contribute towards discovery of talented youth players that will represent the state and the country in future competitions.
This assertion was made by the FIFA Development Officer in charge of Africa, Mr. Francesco Brescoli, when he led a delegation of FIFA/NFF officials to a courtesy call at the Government House Bauchi on Wednesday where he said the project is a collaboration between FIFA and NFF considering that Nigeria is a strong nation in Africa in terms of football, hence the decision to execute youth development programme by putting the technical center in place.
He said the size of the land provided by the Bauchi State Government is more than enough to construct the FIFA goal project that will consist of scientific football pitch, medical facilities, dressing rooms, gymnastic facilities etc.
The NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari said the project is 100% funded by the world soccer governing body which will enhance youth development in the state and commended the state government for providing a big size of land to accommodate the FIFA Goal Project in the state.
Responding, Governor Isa Yuguda who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Sagir Aminu Saleh, applauded FIFA for accepting to construct a technical youth center in the state and commended the NFF, especially its president for bringing the important project to the state.
He reiterated the determination of the state government towards promoting sporting activities in the state and the country in general, saying that the state government has committed billions of naira towards provision of standard sporting facilities that earned the state governor an award from FIFA.
Governor Yuguda stated that it was a deliberate effort to obtain approval for the taking over of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium from the federal government to ensure proper utilization of its facilities.
