Consultancy fees deplete Lagos revenue by 80%

EMPLOYMENT of private bodies in the Lagos State internal revenue board has cost the State Government 80 percent of its total revenue. Speaking at the offical launching of OTR in Lagos, the vision driver of Organisation for truthful rebirth, Eben Akinyemi said bad strategy has led the State government to get a return of only 20% of the total revenue generated in the state. “There are too many consultants employed by the state government in generating internal revenue, at the long run, only 20percent goes to the purse of the state government,” he said. Akinyemi emphasised on the need for quality investment on young entrepreneurs, saying business moguls should explore the lucrative opportunity in smaller businesses. He stressed that the expected increase in the country’s population in 2100 should be addressed early, as OTR is to strategy on how to help change the country in 2100. According to him, the public has lost confident in the judicial arm of government for non-transparency and public opinion should be use as strategy to reveal the truth in the country. Akinyemi explained that businessmen are frustrated by the rigour procedure of in securing loans in Nigerian banks. This, he said OTR will replace the banks by creating an alternative means of sponsor businesses in the country. However, the National Coordinator of the organisation, Moses Adedeji said OTR is a platform to effect fundamental changes through re-orientation and conscientisation of Nigerian to speak the truth individually and collectively. “It is a new national renaissance and a new approach. Towards finding solutions to the hydra-headed problems besetting the nation, the truth is the central to national development,” he said. Adedeji explained that OTR will have its offices in every states of the federation and every local government, to breed civil servant and business men to be truthful to cater for the vision of change.
