Plateau PDP disowns Tapgun , Adudu, others

PEOPLE’S Democratic Party, PDP in plateau state has disowned former Governor of the state , Sir Fidelis Tapgun, Senator Timothy Adudu and Alhaji Ado Datti as card carrying members of the party.

The deregistration of the above listed members of the ruling party in the state was contained in statement made available to newsmen in Jos yesterday and signed by the State Secretary of PDP, Prince Pam Saleh.

According to the statement, “We are writing to express our surprise over the inclusion of non-PDP members from our state in the 2013 convention electoral sub-committee as released by the national secretariat of the party. Former Governor of the State, Sir Fidelis Tapgun, and former Senator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, Senator Timothy Adudu and Alhaji Ado Datti are non-party members”.

It noted, “As a party, it is our firm belief that the inclusion of these persons is not only a great disservice to us, but also a negative signal to our teaming supporters who have been faithful to the PDP since the beginning of our democratic dispensation.

The statement further added, “One of such none-party members is Former Governor of the State, Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun who left the PDP since 2011 to join the Labour Party and has not returned since while Senator Timothy Adudu contested and won Senatorial election for Plateau North under the banner of ANPP in 2003 and was an ANPP Senator between 2003 and 2007. Till date he has not participated in PDP activities even at his ward level”.

It explained that Alhaji Ado Datti, like Tapgun, was a staunch member of the ACN since 2011 and still remains staunch ACN member till date, adding that; “given the above facts, the state chapter is shocked to discover their names as members of the convention committee. Can the PDP entrust the planning of its national convention to non party members?”

The party therefore urged the national secretariat to seriously consider the issue raised so as to restore the confidence of loyal supporters from the State.

The chapter observed that now that APC has been formed, it seems the new party is seriously making efforts to deploy its agents to masquerade as PDP members and advised that replacement be made with PDP card carrying members
