Two suspected armed robbers believed to be members of a gang that operate along Enugu/ Port Harcourt road, were yesterday arrested by operatives of the Enugu State command.
They had boarded a commercial bus with registration number BH 948 ENU at Gariki Awkunanaw Motor Park Enugu, but luck ran out on them when they were apprehended by the at Ishiagu junction, a border town in Ebonyi State and Enugu.
The suspects who gave their names as Ernest Onyeka Nwodo and Ugochukwu Ifeanyi concealed the two double barrel shot onto the bus. But the police on stop and search duty were able to discover the guns.
The Enugu State police command has confirmed that full investigations on the matter have commenced.
In another development, the command has also arrested a fake National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC official at Orie Awgu market, in Enugu State.
The suspect who gave his name as Prince Gabriel Obasi of Odume in Ani Nri Local Government Area of the state had posed as a NAFDAC official with intention to defraud a local gin (kaikai) dealer in the market of N10, 000.
Enugu State police public relations officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the story, and said investigations are ongoing.
