As the people Offa headquarters of Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State continue expressed their displeasure over the declaration by the State Independent Electoral Commission, KWSIEC, in the Saturday poll, the state governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday sworn-in Prince Abdulwaheed Olanipekun as the Chairman of the area.
Governor Ahmed urged him to implement people friendly programme for betterment and development of the area adding that the new leadership of the council should be able to embark on transformation agenda for the people of the council.
He advice him to operate an open door policy and ensure he carries along all stakeholders in the area admonishing him to key into the state government programmes in education, health ,and agriculture among others for the betterment of the people.
The governor also urged him to quickly intervene and solve the problems of insecurity in the area saying: “You have to strive hard to enlighten the people to have peace, ensure you are prudent in the spending of public fund so that the people of the community will enjoy the dividend of democracy that is needed.”
Some indigenes of Offa who trooped out in their thousands to show their displeasure over the acts embarked on peaceful protest to the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari after which they took to major streets in the Ilorin the state capital.
In his reaction, APC leader in the state, Comrade Sola Iji, said: “We went through the town and return to where we started from. Then tomorrow again, we continue until justice is done.
“That is fraudulent swearing. As far as we are concerned they have not won any election and the true result should be given us and at the rightness of time, we will get our mandate.”
