President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that the present administration places premium on security in order to ensure the development of the country so as to keep the nation as one entity.
“The challenges facing the country are mostly terrorism, kidnapping and armed robbery”. He stated that the government is doing its possible best to beat the challenges.
Speaking at Nigeria Police Academy, POLAC, Wudil in Kano on Tuesday, President Goodluck added that government is seriously motivating the security agencies to ensure that total security service is rendered to the country.
The President who was represented by the Minister of Police Affairs, Captain Caleb Olubolade tasked the graduated cadet officers to imbibe the culture of professionalism on their job.
He said the present administration will not relent in its effort to provide all the necessary support to the security agencies so as to have modern policing in the country.
In his address also, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC Chief Mike Okiro said; “our graduating officers are today being commissioned to the field to come and play their desired role in containing our current national security challenge”.
According to him, the graduated cadet’s officers are also expected to contribute their quota to the emerging discourse of a better option for creating a safer and more secured environment in Nigeria.
Speaking also, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar said the quest for professionalism and enhanced efficiency in the Nigeria police witnessed the passing out of two hundred and sixty three (263) Cadet ASPs and two hundred and twenty two (222) cadet Inspectors”.
He also revealed that; “Our contemporary society has become more complex and dynamic just as crime and criminality have assumed a more sophisticated dimension”.
Mr. Abubakar challenged the graduated officers to brace up and be ready to meet the expectations of Nigerians by helping to reduce crime to the barest minimum.
