Police in Benin yesterday failed to confirm or deny the incident on Monday night at about 7.30pm where a Police Corporal, Oziegbe Omobunde allegedly shot and killed two of his colleagues, an Inspector and a corporal in Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the Inspector whose identity could not be ascertained at press time was killed on his way to official duty by the corporal now on the run.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen when contacted said he was yet to be briefed and however added that he would call the Oregbeni Police Divisional headquarters for confirmation.
It was gathered that the corpse of the late Inspector has been deposited in an undisclosed hospital at Ikpoba Hill, Benin City.
It was further learnt that the late Inspector was on his way to official duty at United Bank for Nigeria Plc, located at Agbor Road when he was killed by the suspect.
It was also gathered that the suspect also attacked and shot his fellow corporal who accidentally boarded the same vehicle with him soon as he felt that his colleague might have knowledge of his misdeed.
