World Bank tasks youths on hard work

Country Director, World Bank, Mrs. Marie-Fracoise Marie-Nelly, has tasked youths in the country to prepare themselves for the future through hard-work and perseverance.

Marie-Nelly gave the charge at Agbadu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi at the weekend while commissioning two blocks of six classrooms constructed by the state Community and Social Development Agency, KGCSDA, with World Bank Assistance.

The World Bank Country Director urged the primary school pupils, secondary students and other youths from the community who trooped out to welcome her to be serious with their academic pursuit.

While making the youths to repeat severally after her: “I roll my sleeves and prepare my future, I roll my sleeves and prepare my future”, she particularly enjoined girls to be more serious with their education to guarantee a brighter future.

The general manager of the agency, Mr. James Odiba, said that the agency needed more money to support development needs of communities in the state, adding that the agency had supported less than 20 per cent of communities that applied for its interventions.

In his remarks, the state commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yabagi Bologi, said the people of the state were quite appreciative of the interventions of the World Bank in Community development.”The intervention is impacting lives and we as citizens of Kogi are quite appreciative of the work the World Bank is doing”, he said.

The Marie-Nelly commissioned a cassava farms and Fadama projects projects in Agbadu during the tour.
