Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Merit Branzuk Energy Limited, Mrs. Merit Gordon Obua, has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for initiating policies with a view to proving jobs for Nigerians.
Mrs. Obua who made the commendation in a speech shortly before the conferment of Merit Award on her by Association of Business Specialists and Entrepreneurs of Nigeria, in Abuja, last week Friday, expressed delight that the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria, YOUWiN, programme is exiting Nigerians out of poverty.
In this vein she enjoined youths in the country to seek information about the scheme so that they can explore the benefits inherent it, pointing that there was the need for stakeholders to support the Federal Government in sensitising prospective beneficiaries.
Mrs. Abua, a patron of World Fashion organisation-Africa, said youths should disabuse their minds from thinking that those who have huge sums of money can start a business, according to her ideas play a pivotal role in this regard. So, those with good business plan should key into YOUWiN.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan flagged the N50 billion YouWin scheme in October 2011, saying that the programme was designed to address youth unemployment in the country, affirming that his administration was committed to creating job opportunities for the youth by empowering them to become job providers and not job seekers.
So far the Federal Government has created not less than 27,000 direct jobs for Nigerians through the YOUWiN, out of the 80, 000 target including 22,000 from YouWiN Phase 1 and over 5000 from YouWiN 2, which focuses on women.
