Enugu state governor, Barrister Sullivan Chime has described claims that he is fighting the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as bewildering and bemusing.
A press statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Barrister Chukwudi Achife, posted to the pilot yesterday, in reaction to allegations published in some national dailies[not Nigerian pilot] to that effect, Achife described the allegations as not only baseless and fallacious but a smack of “paranoia and hysteria” on the part of those behind them.
Governor Chime’s press secretary said that contrary to the claims by the group,who claimed to be protecting the interest of ‘Greater Awgu’ people,where Ekweremadu belongs, Governor Chime is the person who have been on the receiving end, in the past few months,of a sponsored smear campaign in the press via articles written by shadowy figures adding that the identity and intentions of those behind the articles were now becoming clear.
Achife stated, “The claims of Greater Awgu Forum against Governor Chime can only be described as bewildering and bemusing. The allegations are not only baseless and completely fallacious but the tone in which they were made, smacks of desperation, paranoia and hysteria on the part of those behind them’’.
