Nigerian musicians stand up for Mandela

s tributes continue to pour in for late South African president, Nelson Mandela, Nigerian entertainers are adding their voice to honour the man who is believed to have inspired many.

It is in this light that some of the biggest contemporary Nigerian musicians and comedians are putting up a show in honour of Mandela come December 18.

The concert titled ‘The Legacy Lives… A Tribute Concert’ event will showcase leading Nigerian artistes such as Dbanj, 2Face, Darey, Burna Boy, Ikechukwu, Eldee the Don and Zaina.

Others are Mo Easy, Engager, Chioma, DJ Babus, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Julius Agwu, Mike Aremu, J. Martins, Niyola, Omawunmi, Tiwa Savage and Rocksteady.

The commemorative event which will hold at the Oceanview Restaurant, Victoria Island, is being organised by Mo’ Abudu, chief executive officer of a private entertainment television station, EbonyLife.

Abudu said that she was proud to be initiating the event.

“It is one of the least things we can do as Nigerians, Africans and global black citizens of the world to honour a unique, caring and very humble global character.

“Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela lives on as a beacon of hope, a true icon of inspiration and a man of extraordinary vision.

“Mandela left a great legacy of humanity that Africans and the rest of the world must strive to aspire to.

“We are indeed very proud to put this together. It is a free concert for the expensive price of liberty paid for by the selfless Madiba.”
