Adidas and Fifa have announced that the Brazuca Official Match Balls has been delivered to all 32 countries that qualified for the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil.
The official ball, The Brazuca, which was launched two weeks ago, has been delivered as early as possible to give all the countries enough time to train with the ball as the start of the Mundial counts down.
The Brazuca is adidas’ most tested ball of all time and was developed over two and a half years, involving 600 players and 30 professional and national teams across 10 countries.
Some of the top players in the world like Lionel Messi, Dani Alves, Iker Casillas and Steven Gerrard were part of the testing process.
“The ‘Brazuca’ name was chosen in September 2012 following a plebiscite in Brazil involving one million football fans and it is an informal local term which means “Brazilian”, or to describe the Brazilian way of life,” Fifa said.
“The colours and ribbon design of the ball panels symbolise the traditional multi-coloured wish bracelets worn in the country (fita do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia), in addition to reflecting the vibrancy and fun associated with football in Brazil.
And as the first official Fifa World Cup ball to have a Twitter account, @brazuca has amassed over 100,000 followers in its first two weeks.
