Respite has finally come for those who are suffering from leprosy in Benue State, following the discovery of its cure by Dr. Abdullahi Injar, an indigene of the state. Injar, who hails from Gwer Local Government Area, said the cure for the pandemic was revealed to him in a vision. When Nigerian Pilot met him in Makurdi, Dr Abdullahi, a Muslim said he treats other diseases like Sexually Transmitted Diseases, STDs, and water borne diseases too. SUNDAY OGLI reports

You veered into traditional business of the treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, STDs, and water borne diseases among others. How did you discover the cure for these diseases?

Thank you very much. In 2008, while I was in Lagos selling drugs in the commercial buses, I had an appendix and was to go for an operation but I had no money. So, one night in a dream I was instructed to read a chapter in the Koran called Li-ilafi three times and blow in the water and drink, then rub the remaining water where the appendix was paining me. It was cured in three days and till today I no longer complain of appendix, and this is five years now.

You earlier mentioned water borne diseases, what do you treat in particular at the moment?

I treat STDs and most water borne diseases. I cure staphylococcus, chlamydia as well as typhoid, malaria and some other ones with my miracle herbs. And it will interest you to know that leprosy is also something I have been treating with this miracle water, and with people’s support, I will get the country rid of leprosy.

To what extent are the people aware of this feat, owing to the prevalence of leprosy within and outside the state?

I have never created any much awareness on this. This is the first time I am talking to the press about the issue of leprosy. However, there was a time I came down to the Wadata market close to police ‘A’ Division to buy some foodstuff. So, I saw some lepers with deep wounds at their feet. I stopped to inquire if I could heal them and they told me they had been taking the drugs for over nine years but without cure. I asked them if they can allow me treat them and they agreed, and today they are very happy. That was how it started.

I met their leader, Sarki Sabo who volunteered to assemble the patients for me. I gave them a date and when I came on the fateful day, I read a verse from the Holy Koran and blew it on the sachet and they shared it among themselves. I told them that they will experience severe body pain but should not panic because it shows that healing is taking place.

What are the symptoms of leprosy?

The early symptoms include itching of the palm, feet, fingers, toes and hotness under the feet, stiffness of the joints and in some cases, yellow scars and deep wounds and so on.

How long does it take for the leprosy to be cured completely?

It takes about three to four months or thereabout, and it depends on how fast a patient responds to treatment and how one’s body system is.

Okay, how many people have you cured so far?

In 2010, I tested it on one leper and it was cured completely. In the same year, I tested it on someone who bought my drugs for an infection and still inquired if I had medicine for appendix, I said no but told him to read Psalms 119: 145-147 in the Holy Bible and blow it inside the water, he did as I instructed and was cured in three days.

What motivated you into this business?

I was motivated to contribute my quota to save mankind. You know, when I saw the wounds I was irritated. I had passion on them, I thought within myself, let me do something, let me help these people. And you know there are a lot of people affected by the pandemic out there, especially from the far north where cases of the sickness abound.

These categories of people are desperately looking for help, where to cure the disease. In Makurdi, the Benue State capital, those who have heard about what I am doing are now laughing.

Does the treatment attract high charges?

No, I do not collect money from them. It is free, if you like come here even in my absence; ask them they will tell you that I do not collect a dime from them. All I need is to let the people get well and by so doing I am creating awareness. The issue of money is not paramount now.

When did you start this treatment?

Well, its not too long now, it’s about a month and the response is impressive.

Have you received any assistance from philanthropists or government?

No, I haven’t. But I believe as soon as they start hearing of the success in the treatment, I am sure well meaning individuals and even Governor Gabriel Suswam whom I know is committed to improving the health needs of his people, and his counterparts in the north where the disease is rampant, will come to my assistance. One person may decide to offer me a piece of land to fully establish a clinic where people can come for treatment under a more conducive atmosphere, and I believe the Almighty Allah will help me in this regard.

So where do you operate now, do people come to your house or you visit them at designated venues?

Like I said, for now I don’t have an office so I use to come to where the patients gather and carry out treatment and go back to my house.

If the person is a Christian, I will give a verse from the Holy Bible and if the person is a Moslem I will give such a person a verse from the Holy Koran. That is the way it was revealed to me in a vision and it is working.

Do you have any challenges?

Oh yes! I believe that in any thing you do in life you must be faced with daunting challenges. My major challenge is funding to enable me take off properly. I need at least N4 million for a smooth take- off.  On this note I wish to appeal to well meaning individuals in the society to come to my aid.
