Etsu Nupe warns clerics against inciting sermons

Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has cautioned preachers against provocative sermons capable of inciting the public against one another.

“Religious sermons should be targeted at maintaining harmonious relationship among the people and nothing should be done to divide the people,” he said.

Abubakar, who was represented by the Shaba Nupe, Alhaji Abdulmalik Ndayako said this yesterday at the graduation of 15 Quar’anic Students of Ummul Qura Academy, Bida in Niger State.

The traditional ruler said that such harmonious relationship among the people should always be promoted to enhance peace, unity and progress.

The monarch reminded the clerics of their roles as representatives of God Almighty, saying that they should always be shining examples both in words and in deeds.

Abubakar warned against sectarianism in Islam and appealed to clerics to fashion out ways that would propagate the genuine teachings of the religion.

He appealed to wealthy Nigerians to always assist in funding the building of Islamic Schools, where the children would learn the teachings of God.

The royal father appealed to parents to always send their children to school to acquire both Islamic and Western education.
