Jos Metropolitan Development Board, JMDB, has threatened to demolish any building in Jos, Plateau State capital, which fails to conform to the standard set by the state government.
Its General Manager, Major Gen. Musa Gambo (rtd), who gave the warning while briefing newsmen in his office, ordered residents to stop building shops by fences.
He warned that any house without approval would be demolished, adding that the era of illegal structures was gone.
He said one of the mandates of the board was to implement and enforce government’s building plans, adding that the agency would ensure that all government projects are done according to specification.
He said the board was set to implement government policies, as it has a pool of professionals with specialisation in architecture, building, town planning, and others.
Gambo further disclosed that the state government would soon transform the Jos Metropolitan Development Board to Plateau State Urban Development Agency, PLASUDA, to expand its scope statewide. .
He said the agency would soon organise “a very strong awareness campaigns to address stakeholders on the need to key into this new concept as there are areas earmarked for residential and industrial development in the state”.
