Suspension of the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been described as “a welcome development which has  been long overdue.”

Lawmaker representing Jos South/Jos East in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Bitrus Kaze, stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Jos yesterday.

He said: “But for the fact that I am a lawmaker, who understands the weight of the law and due process, I would have preferred if he had been sacked out rightly and handed over to law enforcement agents for immediate prosecution.”

He urged President Goodluck Jonathan to quickly empanel a team of professionals of unquestionable character “to beam a searchlight into the dark years of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Gov of Nigeria’s Central Bank”.

“I am unable to recall that any previous CBN Governor who  has done incalculable damage to the integrity of the CBN and invariably the economy of Nigeria compared to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi whose reign of impunity is unequalled in the history of the CBN,” he added.
