NFF consider hosting 2018 CHAN

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has given strong indication that the country could bid to host the 2018 Africa Nations Championship, CHAN.
President of Nigeria’s apex football ruling body, Aminu Maigari said they will want to stage the biennial competition if they get the backing of the government.
Maigari said the Federation may consider staging the 2018 African Nations Championship due to the advantages of staging of such competition bring to the host.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF has given Rwanda the rights to host the 2016 edition, but CAF said they are yet to receive any bids for the 2018 CHAN.
NFF president noted that hosting the 2018 CHAN would not be out of place, but said the football house will have to consult with its supervising body, the National Sports Commission, NSC, before decision could be made public.
However, Maigari expressed his fears at its possibility.”But I cannot say right now if we could bid to host because I do not know if you and I would still be there by 2018. But like you know, every Nigerian loves to see the national team in action as it brings them joy. So, it would be nice if the federal government considers it and gives us the go-ahead to apply for the hosting rights.”
Nigeria made her debut at the 2014 CHAN in South Africa, where they placed third behind Ghana and Libya.
The 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup was the last major football event the country hosted.
