A fresh crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State has led to the death of some people, while several houses were set ablaze.
An eye witness informed Sunday Pilot that the Fulani herdsmen invaded Aku village at the early hours of Thursday, killing some people while Aku Market was completely set ablaze with some people sustaining injuries.
The eye said the Fulani invaders, who emerged from the bank of River Benue bordering Benue and Nasarawa States, shot sporadically at people in the community and went further to set houses ablaze.
From there, the invaders were said to have moved to the market where they caused a stampede, which led to the deaths and maiming of many.
Police authorities in the state have however confirmed the death of four people during the crisis, while DSP Daniel Ezeala, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, who confirmed the unfortunate development, said security has been beefed up in the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
