Land reform initiated by the Kano State Government will enable the state generate N2billion monthly, the state Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Muhammad Nadu Yahaya has said.
The commissioner who stated this in an interview with Nigerian Pilot in his office said, this is in sharp contrast to the N300 or N400 million that was being generated monthly in the immediate past administration.
He said, as against the system on land administration adopted by the past administration which randomly and indiscriminately allocated land unmindful of the Land Use Act, the present administration has devised affordable means for the people to have easy access to acquire land without much problem, noting that land could be used in the poverty alleviation programme as it could be utilised for too many things, including farming and cottage industries.
The commissioner further said the land reform brought about by this present regime of Musa Kwankwaso is unique, as it brings simplicity in applying, processing and acquisition by the applicants, adding this was because of the technologically driven method other than the analogue used in the past.
