National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, South-South Zonal office has trained more than 800 corps members in the zone in emergency and disaster control and management.
The training programmje was initiated by the Agency aimed at using NYSC corps members as disaster vanguards and for proactive disaster management in the country.
The training was conducted in the six states ofAkwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers, making up the zone.
The NEMA/NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards, EMV programme was initiated to offer corps members the opportunity to provide their services in an organised, prompt and responsive ways to disaster incidents during their one year compulsory service to the communities where they are deployed to.
