LEADERSHIP of the Assemblies of God Church, Abuja District, has denied any crisis in the church as well as any meeting in the territory regarding its former General Superintendent, Dr. Paul Emeka.
In a statement issued at the end of its meeting yesterday in Abuja, the Church said the purported meeting presided over by Rev Nicholas Ifeanyichukwu Anyanwu does not represent the stance of majority of the members.
“Our attention has been drawn to a purported meeting of Rev. Anyanwu and two others out of 19 Sessions of the Church in the FCT,” it said.
“To every discerning member of the church and public, this does not and cannot represent the stance of majority of the Church and that of the General Committee and the Executive Committee which had placed the former GS Dr. Emeka under suspension and investigation.
“As a Church of obedience and decorum, we remain committed to Higher authority and urge the public to ignore any insuination of crisis. We remain united in the quest for Christ-like leadership and soul winning which has been our guiding principle for over 6 decades in Nigeria.”
According to the statement signed by the Assistant District Superintendent, Rev. Hycinth Ngene, Rev. Anthony Eseh, District Secretary, Rev. Godwin Agaga, District Treasurer and three others, while Rev. Danjuma Bawa and Deacon Onyema Ukaire, they lack the authority to convene any meeting to endorse the leadership of Rev. Anyanwu, who is under investigation by the executive committee of the Assemblies of God.
The district also dissociates itself from any purported meeting by the affected persons and urged its pastorate to shun the gathering.
