Edo state Local Government election appeal tribunal on Saturday affirmed the election of Mr. Sam Oboh of All Progressives Congress, APC, as the duly elected chairman of Esan North East Council boss.
In his judgment, which lasted three hours, Justice John Acha set aside the judgment of the lower tribunal, which called for a rerun of the October 22, 2013 election and faulted the lower tribunal judgment based on technicality.
The state local government elections tribunal which delivered it’s judgment on February 18, 2014 and granted the prayers of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Mr. John Yakubu for a rerun on grounds of irregularities.
However, Oboh described the judgment as an act of God, as it further demonstrates that he actually won the election adding that though the case was on, it did stop him from delivering his campaign promises to the people.
He said he would, however, perform better now that the matter has been laid to rest and appealed to the PDP candidate, along with his supporters to join hands with him to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
