An aspirant of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Delta State House of Assembly, Engr. Onome Onokpasa has vowed to improve on the living standard of the people of Ughelli North Constituency II if voted into power in 2015.
Onokpasa, who spoke to newsmen yesterday in Ughelli, said there was the need to liberate his people by providing infrastructural development and other basic amenities.
“When I look at our people, they have not been represented effectively and I believe that they can get a better bargain. I am an industrialist by profession, an engineer by training and I have both local and international business and exposure; and I believe that bringing it to play is an advantage to my people.
“It is my desire to judiciously use the resources at our disposal in Ughelli North Constituency II, we can turn the fortunes of the people around so that the people of Ughelli, Agbarho and Ugwuerun will be provided gainful employment, better education and other kinds of empowerment, where our people will begin to appreciate that democracy is for the people as against the situation right now where it is not appreciated”, he declared.
He further urged the people of Ughelli North Constituency II to look beyond parochial political sentiments and look keenly at the quality of candidates that are coming for same position to know if they have succeeded in their personal life, whether they have managed resources, money, people at their disposal before choosing to represent them.
