Kogi State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC commander, Mr Dapo Adesuyi has said his men went to the JAMB office in Lokoja to ascertain the status of the private security outfit being used by the organisation.

While addressing journalists in Lokoja yesterday at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ centre, he said the operatives of his department who were involved in the fracas at the JAMB office on Wednesday morning were being interrogated by the command.

Explaining further, he said the men of his command were at the JAMB office to confirm whether the security outfit being used by the organisation was duly registered with the appropriate authority or not, saying that in the process, misunderstanding ensued between his men and the JAMB workers where some of them, including his operatives, received various degrees of injury.

He said one of his men was critically ill at present as a result of the beating he received from the JAMB workers. “One of my officers is at the native doctor’s house receiving treatment because they used a charm ring to beat him”, he said.

“The bucks stop at my table. If there is anything, I encourage you to come to me and cross check. I have put everything in place for free flow of information to the members of the public”, he assured.

It would be recalled that the NSCDC operatives invaded the Lokoja office of the JAMB on Wednesday and in the melee that ensued, some of the staff of the organisation were beaten black and blue, including a pregnant woman and journalists who were on the beat.
