Following the dissolution of the cabinet of former governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state, there are indications that the Acting Governor, Alhaji Umaru Ahmed Fintiri, will this week appoint new commissioners and other aides.
The Acting Governor last week appointed Pro¬fessor of Geography from Modibbo Adama Univer¬sity of Technology as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, immediately he took over after the impeachment of Nyako.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday gathered from reliable sources in Yola that there will be a meeting of Peoples Democratic Party leaders and other critical stakeholders in the state today, where far reaching decisions will be taken on how the state will be administered in the next three months.
According to our source, on top of the agenda is the appointment of commissioners, who will assist the Acting Governor to manage the affairs of the state until Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducts fresh governorship election in the state.
Leaders of PDP from the state have at the weekend relocated to Adamawa from various locations to attend the Monday meeting, which our source described as “very important.”
It was also gathered that the Acting Governor and PDP leaders have so far not broached the issue of possible successor to Nyako as they are presently preoccupied with reviving governance in the state after the lull in the wake of Nyako’s impeachment.
However, this has not stopped some of the interested governorship aspirants from intensifying their lobby of leaders in the state for their support ahead of the primaries of the PDP.
