Following last Friday’s bold declaration by the reinstated Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, that it is ready for probe, eggheads at the ministry of justice as well as the sports ministry are said to be considering handing over ‘’the weighty fraud and financial mismanagement allegation’’ leveled against Maigari and co to the dreaded Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFFC.

Arising from a meeting following the vacation of a court order restraining the board from running Nigerian football, Chief Emeka Iyama said the board was ready for probe regarding the various allegations of financial improprieties levelled against the board in some quarters.

Nigerian Pilot Sports was reliably told at the weekend that even before Maigari and his board members visits the sports minister this Thursday, the EFCC may come after them for the following allegations:

. The $2 million dollars paid by the Federal Government and the $8 million paid by FIFA for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa

.The $1 million reserved by the Sani Abdullahi Lulu-led board for the furnishing of the Sunday Dankaro House and the secretariat of the NFF in the package B at the National Stadium, Abuja.

.The N790 million they got for the 2013 African Nations Cup

.The N170 million received for the 2013 Confederation Cup in Brazil and the money paid by FIFA for the same overhead.

.The $1.5 million grant given by FIFA to prepare the national team, the Super Eagles for the 2014 World Cup

.Proceeds from the sponsorship deals with Globacom, Guinness, Tomtom, Peak milk and Adidas paid to them through Pamodzi

.N1.288 billion being the sum of the monthly subvention received from government from January 2013 to June 2014

.N850 million received from the government for the preparation and participation of the Super Eagles in the first round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and

.The $8 million and the $6million expected revenue from FIFA from playing in the first round and qualifying for the round of 16 respectively whenever it is paid to Nigeria after the World Cup.

The four-year tenure of the Maigari-led NFF will expire next month and elections have already been scheduled at the end of August.
