Mrs Joy Ogidi, a native of Umuimo in Osisioma Ngwa local government area of Abia state is relying on the intervention of police men from the Enugu state command, to recover the sum of N680,000 and N30,000 which her husband’s brother deceitfully defrauded her of.
In her formal report to the police in Enugu, she mentioned how Mr Kenneth Elema approached her on March 17, this year with a promise that he would help her secure admission for one of her daughters into higher institution.
She said she paid the money into his account and since then whenever she asked about the said admission, it was one story to another.
But according to her, the most painful part was his connivance with some conmen, who urged her to pay another N680,000 on the pretext that he is sorting out an employment opportunity for another of her daughters, at Nigeria Immigration service.
She said Mr. Elema tricked her by linking her up to a fake job syndicate, but she later became convinced that he was also a part of the syndicate. She lamented that the con men tricked her into believing that the Immigration job was for her daughter until when she received a congratulatory text message alert, that her daughter has been offered the job opportunity.
According to Mrs Ogidi, she went for a thanksgiving service and thereafter organised a party, in which friends of her family celebrated with her. But later on, she found out that she has been fooled and duped again by her husband’s brother, using his gang of con men.
However, the Enugu state police command has arrested Mr. Elema, and he has confessed that he collected the N30, 000 but rejected the claim that he connived with some people to defraud her.
