The interim chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, loyalists group in Kogi State, Dr Goodman Akwu has said the party would initiate move that will put to rest the volatile power rotation issue in the state.
Rising from a meeting of the group in Lokoja at the weekend, the APC loyalists said the issue of power rotation which has been causing bad blood among the major ethnic tribes in the state, would be discussed and the modality of sharing would be agreed by the concerned parties.
The APC chieftain, who said that ruling the state is not a birthright of any ethnic tribe, emphasised that power rotation was not a government activity but what stakeholders, elders and senior citizens of the state could resolve with understanding, adding that the APC had what it take to resolve that lingering agitation without any rancour.
While noting that there was no faction in the APC in the state, Dr Akwu said the loyalist group is a fertile ground for the party to take off fully in the state.
“We are out to prepare ground for the APC to kick off at a full blast. There is no faction or division in the party in the state”, he said.
However, he said the loyalist group would resist imposition syndrome which bedevilled the ACN of the old, saying members of the yet-to-be constituted executive body of the party were to be people of proven integrity and with the necessary qualifications, because of what he termed the grave situation of the state.
He said the party would ensure an internal democracy, saying a situation where an individual will impose his interest on the majority is no longer tolerated, just as he also said the era of misfits and half baked controlling the party was over.
The meeting was attended by members drawn from all the three senatorial districts of the state, including some ex-gubernatorial candidates and party chieftains.
