We want to make workers responsive — Ayakoroma

The Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Dr. Barclays Ayakokoma has said that the organisation is keen on making workers in the cultural sector more responsive and effective in the sector.

Dr. Ayakoroma stated this yesterday during the opening ceremony of a Three-Day workshop entitled, Repositioning Cultural Workers for Improved Productivity organised for staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, in Koroduma, Nasarawa State.

He explained that the training will enable the staff appreciate better the relevance of the sector in national development and also reposition it towards revenue generation for the country.

The ES also averred that the training was a platform for staff in the sector to refresh their minds and attune with current trends in cultural application.

“Like you know very well that if a person is not receiving regular training, the person might get rust.

“This is the first edition of the repositioning workshop organised for staff of the ministry, we believe that it would be done either quarterly or annually”, he added.

Dr. Ayakoroma further stated that NICO was discussing with states as far as this programme is concerned and would also organize one in Lagos where workers of the various state cultural agency participate.

He added that NICO as the training arm in the cultural sector is working towards special packages to organise such training in the various states.

The workshop is expected to run from July 17 – 19, 2013.
