As the clock ticks fast to today’s deadline for Nigeria to overturn a recent court ruling in Jos that voided the elections into the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, or Fifa will ban them until May 2015, indications were rife last night that the antagonist, Chris Giwa is set to give peace a chance.

The signs started on Wednesday when the High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State adjourned the case involving the NFF and factional leader Chris Giwa to yesterday.

Sources hinted Nigerian Pilot Sports that following an order by the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tammy Danagogo that the feuding parties sheathe their swords in the interest of peace, the court might have been informed and feelers yesterday pointed to the fact the case might be withdrawn at the court’s next sitting to starve off any ban on the country by FIFA.

Danagogo, at a meeting with top officials of the Federation and the faction led by Ambassador Chris Giwa, specifically charged that the court case entered into by the Giwa faction should immediately be withdrawn to save Nigeria from impending FIFA hammer. He also confirmed holding a meeting with President of Confederation of African Football (CAF), Alhaji (Dr) Issa Hayatou in Windhoek on Saturday, where the CAF supremo told him in no uncertain terms that FIFA and CAF have had it up to their neck with Nigeria.

Pressure was mounted on the Giwa group to drop down on their legal option, tow a brow beaten option and allow Pinnick a peaceful four-year term.
