Court remands 3 for murder during Amosun’s Ilaro tour

Three persons were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ilaro Chief Magistrate Court and subsequently remanded in prison custody over the death of a 21 year old, Olufemi Amosun, during Governor Ibikunle Ammosun’s tour Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South local government area of the state.

The suspects, according to the charge sheet obtained by Nigerian Pilot, are Fatai Lamidi, Muyideen  Salaudeen and Oyeyemi  Semiu.

In the case with charge number, M/O/156C/2014, the suspects were arraigned before Chief Magistrate, Mrs Fafowora on six count charge bothering on murder, illegal possession of firearms and conspiracy, amongst others.

It will be recalled that supporters of two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC clashed during the local government assessment tour of the local government by senator Ibikunle Amosun penultimate week where the victim was allegedly shot while other were reportedly injured.

The Ogun State Police Command had arrested seven suspects in connection with the case while firearms including four pump action and other dangerous weapons were also recovered from the suspects.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 324, 319(1), 516(1), 88(1)(a) and 63 of criminal code law of Ogun State, 2006.

Due to the nature of the case, the plea was not taken while the case, upon mention, was subsequently adjourned till 16th November, 2014.

Meanwhile, the Association of Ohori Baales in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State has petitioned Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle to assist them in getting justice the matter.

In a letter by the Association on behalf of the deceased family to the Paramount Ruler dated 24th of October, 2014, signed by four leaders of the family, it was alleged that one Fatai, popularly known as Ode (Hunter) was responsible for the shooting .

The family further alleged that the suspect and his cohorts stood somewhere close to Empire ground where the governor was addressing people and were pursuing people with guns.
