Clearing Agency chairman faults new Airports

Proliferation of airports in the country has been described as misplaced priorities as against what the people needed most that has to do with human development especially food security.

Speaking at a press conference held by Coalition of Business Communities; the National Chairman of the Association, Alh Muhammad Sunusi Wakili lamented that construction of new airports amounts to waste of public funds.

He said no point for a state that can utilize an airport in neighbouring state to opt for new ones that consume large amount of the scarce public funds.

He said “it is even out of point for a state government to delve into gigantic projects like building an airport which for now supposed to be handled by the Federal Government.”

The chairman however advised the state governments that decide to build airports to first observe how even the federally  owned airports across the nation were not being given adequate attention pointing out that such fate will befall the state owned airports.

“My office is situated at the MAKIA so I should know better whether the airport is being given the adequate attention an international standard airport deserves or not unlike other airports around the world that are always up to date in all respect”, he further stated.
