“We are not prepared for the strike action now because of our peculiar situation and therefore the congress saw the need for the students to resume”, he explained.
Dr. Zira who further maintained that a continuation of the industrial action will not better the lots of the people in the face of security challenges added “there have been outcries from well meaning Nigerians including student union bodies, parents, our fund providers, local government councils among others on the need to rescind our stand on the strike action so that the students can return and start exams,’’ he said.
The Faction leader further explained that prior to the commencement of the strike; lecturers in the institution were not briefed.
“Before the commencement of the initial strike, there was no referendum nor were we consulted. The so-called authorities just announced the strike and many lecturers felt aggrieved and decided to quit,’’ he explained.

In his words’’ We are not going to call-off the strike until the national body asked us to do so,’’.
He further said “we are not on strike for personal gains. Rather it’s for the general improvement of the country’s ailing educational sector and called on students not to return.”
