2013 pilgrimage: NCPC selects 148 medical personnel
A total of 148 medical personnel
will be selected from all the states
of the federation and Abuja to participate
in this year’s Christian pilgrimage
exercise to the holy land.
Executive Secretary of the Nigeria
Christian Pilgrim Commission,
NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara
gave the hints on Saturday during
the Federal Medical Team examination
organized by the Commission
in Abuja.
Mr. Opara who disclosed that
over 2000 participants came from
the 36 states of the Federation incredible
medical personnel that
will follow pilgrims to the Holy
land so as to ensure zero mortality
among pilgrims.
The NCPC Head of operation,
Mr. Henry Ezike told newsmen in
an interview during the screening
of the medical personnel that
after the examination, the answer
sheets will be marked within 24
to 48 hours, saying that the result
will be published at the Commission’s
website for people to access.
He noted that for the last 4 years,
the NCPC has been conducting
the test before selection of medical
personnel, saying that the wish
of the commission was to improve
on a yearly basis and to ensuring
that they give best services to the
pilgrims.
According to him, “The selection
is done state by state and we want
to ensure that all states in the federation
participate. We want to
represent federal character and
that is why if someone from Abia
State, for instance, scores 90 percent
and another person from
Yobe or Anambra States scores 40
percent, the person that scores low
mark from these two states will be
taken”.

He noted that medical personnel
who have travelled three times will
not be eligible to participate in the
test, adding that if the same people
that travelled before continue
to go every year, there will be no
opportunity for others that are
coming in.
