Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his administration will give priority attention to education even as he is committed to developing a knowledge based society.
Addressing students of the Law Faculty of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RUST at their faculty building yesterday, Governor Wike also said that he would complete the Law Faculty building and install state of the art facilities in the faculty.
He observed that education was critical to the revival of the battered economy of the state, affirming that educational projects and programmes would be executed to empower the people with requisite knowledge, to improve their living condition.
He noted that he was passionate about the Law Faculty as a product of the faculty, and added that justice administration was a key to the stability of the society.
The chief executive said: “I am here physically to inspect the stage of work on the law Faculty building. I assure you that the Faculty building will be completed very soon.
“My wife and I are products of this faculty, which has produced top Nigerians, who have contributed to national development. I will give priority attention to issues relating to this faculty.”
The Governor was conducted round the Law Faculty by the RSUST Vice Chancellor, Professor Barineme Fakae and Dean of the Faculty, Prof Nlerum Okogbule.
Also yesterday, Governor Wike visited Rivers State Waste Management Agency ,Riwama, where he charged the agency to re-double its efforts on the clearing of refuse dumps across Port Harcourt city.
He was also at Iriebe Park, the outskirts of Port Harcourt, on an inspection visit, and directed that all broken down vehicles in the park be removed for the take off of fuel tanker park.
Meanwhile , Governor Wike has approved the appointment of Elder Felix Obuah as the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Authority, and ordered the Sole Administrator to clean up Port Harcourt city within 72 hours.
